Its time to move on

Yes. Thats what everyone seem to say, everyone seem to expect. Its quite long now, you should come to terms I am told.  But I wonder. Be it 21 yrs or be it 21 months, how would such a pain and loss ever go away. How can I ever move on.  My life has never been normal after that day. Subdued emotions, diminishing expectations , settling in for what I have with no visibility of a bright road ahead guided many of my prime years...from growing up I suddenly became a grown up. Everyday it was a day to prioritize. Every act was a test of endurance. Everyday I reassessed who I am, everyday I rejig'd my aspirations.   Now when someone exclaims, you werent this way before, I wish I could explain....when I am told, whats wrong all is well with you, I wish I could clarify......when all they see is my smile, I wish someone understood whats within.me.... I am today, of what I have been yesterday, and I am proud of how far ive come, while being wary of how much of me I left behind....

One of these days....

Everyday, I start my day with...One of these days... One of these days I will hit the gym One of these days I will learn to dance One of these days I will sign off from work at 4 One of these days I will go to a movie alone One of these days I will try exotic dishes One of these days I will smile all day One of these days I will keep quiet One of these days...One of these days...days pass by, and so has an entire year... So, today is one of those days....when I post something on my blog...to thank a friend who reminded me....that ...today is the day...Make it happen! ....

It was me.. It is me..

When I was a child , I’d be scared to go into the next room in the night ... mom would say dont worry im coming.. Now im a mom and I say “ Wait Im coming” When I was late home , I’d be punished for coming home late. I’d be standing outside waiting for door to open.. Now I’m a mom and I still wait at the door to open ... for my kid to come in.. When I was in high school and was made to wake up at 5.30 am I’d complain I wasnt allowed to sleep enough.. Now I’m a mom , and I wake up at 5.30 am ..feeling I overslept.... When I was in college ..., I’d say .. mom .. whats for breakfast ? Now I’m a mom and I have a breakfast menu I let them choose from When I got married I bid goodbye to my childhood... Now that I’m a mom ... every day  I know I become a child once again ..!!

Hello New Year...!

Its a New Year 2018! . A new year brings in a sense of excitement , a strange freshness,..which I still wonder why. It's just a new day like any other day. What does this year have in store for me - is the first thought that comes to mind. Every year we have our highs , our lows....our happy times, our sorrows....every year is a mixed bag, and so will this new year be. I believe that the only thing that changes every year, is our perception of life, and how we handle ourselves, our emotions, our relationships , our aspirations....Rest all ..for life is ...business as usual.

Where is Life?

Burdeoned by the conflicting emotions...feelings all messed up ...and thoughts haywire..I wonder where is Zest...? ....Is life about living each day with the hope that tomorrow may be better? Is it the fear of not having a  better life that the present is serious. Is it just about passing the time as it comes...? Or is it just trying to make the odds meet?....is this the true purpose..where is life...where is fun?! Everything is complex. Nothing is simple. Its a web..its a whirlwind... Can someone do something about it? Yes!! Just stop thinkin!

Re-ignite the flame!

Hi blog. Did you miss me?  Ive been so engrossed in other activities that i totally lost touch with you. But I cant do this to you anymore. Here I am now...I hope we'll be able to spend some quality time together!!

17 September!

Image
One day in my office a senior colleague asked me when my birthday was..When I told him 17th September, he exclaimed that the date had a high prominence for engineering related industries....17th Sept is celebrated as Vishwakarma Puja by industrial houses, artists, craftsman and weavers. Here is a little about this day: Lord Vishwakarma, is said to be the main architect of the universe who had fabricated the universe as per the direction of Brahma, the lord of creation. Vishwakarma Puja is an important festival in Eastern India and is dedicated to Vishwa Karma, the divine architect of the architect of the universe according to Hindu Scriptures. Vishwakarma or Visvakarma Puja is celebrated annually on September 17. The festival is mainly celebrated in Bengal, Orissa and Tripura. It is a holiday for the industrial belts in this part of India. Kite flying is a major activity on the day. In Hindu Mythology, Vishwakarma is the divine architect of the universe. He is a...

It's all about trust honey!!!

I read this in a book today....."if there is no trust there is no relationship" I agree, but sometimes it makes me think..how is trust built...you start by saying I trust and then actually internalize it, or take time for building the trust that can never waver....someone once said..either we trust or we dont..is that possible?...to take such an extreme position? ....I thought I trusted someone 99% and someone at 20% level... I may not distrust too..but can there be anything in between?....strange....but then, is trust built? or does it just happen?....like few say love happens....for me love is not an instant feeling...it grows..so should trust be like that?...grow overtime?.....donno....too many conflicting thoughts, too less a time to analyze....so why think n waste time:).....

Happy Sankranti 2010.....our rangoli....

Image
My friend Antara and I made this rangoli...I have been making rangoli from childhood, a telugu tradition..but for my friend, a bengali, this was the first time:). She was pretty excited.. The night before sankranti, we googled for a nice design that was interesting as well as easy to make....finally we got this large size one and I improvised it when we made this. ..we used yellow, orange, maroon, pink, and green to make these...and it took us around 4 hours to complete this...It felt pretty nice to be doing it...and Antara loved it too...:)...

I never seem to get enough of him!!

its true!!!!!.....everytime I see him, no matter how he is, he makes me feel special. I feel beaufitul. When he is not around, I feel gloomy. When he is lively, therez a strange happiness in me too.. I havent been able to figure out why this happens to me, whenever I see him. Thats why, no matter how busy or tired or frustrated I am, I need to see him...exchange some silent moments...for me to feel peaceful again. He makes me feel as if the entire world is with me. I have shared all my stories with him...there has been no part of my life that is unknown to him. He has been my confidant. No thing or no one can ever replace his place in my life... They say, that in the cycle of life, whatever comes, goes again. I dont want him to go!!! He is a beautiful part of my life... I wish he is around..forever.....for me!!...as I never seem to get enough of him... Wondering who he is???...He is my handsome hero (as I keep calling him)..., my MOON:) in the sky!!:))

I got a break!! but this way??

It's been a while I wrote something here...now that I have loads of time on my hand, I thought I will get back at this again.....you may ask how come I have so much time when I need to go to office...I have been down with enteric fever (typhoid) from the past 3 weeks and havent been going to office as I neither have the patience to drive nor work long hours again in office. A day before I fell sick, I was telling my colleague that I needed a break as it had become really stressful in the past few months and somehow from the next day I havent been able to go to office. It's a strange coincidence I thought.I did get a break, but then, this was not the way I wanted it to be, firstly, my mom and sis are so worried about my health and recovery...secondly, I feel so weak that I can hardly do anything...all I do is lie on the bed, watch tv for a while, eat, sleep, drink and do nothing else...but..in a way I like this disease....you know why??. Coz, its forcing me to rest, to take car...

Out of the box!!

'There is a need for out-of-the-box thinking'. In work context, we hear this quite often...but in our personal life, do we follow this?.......

My sister's blog - Review in TOI

I'm proud of my girl!!

Yesterday when I was going back home after an exhausting day in office, I noticed a biker dragging his bike on the road as there was no fuel in the bike. While passing by him, I thought to myself, the petrol bunk is so far, and nobody has stopped by to help him out. Then suddenly I thought, why cant I do the same?..Manytimes I have heard people say, that people always say things need to change, but no one actually does anything...this thought troubled me. I knew I would keep thinking I should have gone back and helped the biker, after going back home. So this time, I actually did something..!!!......I took a U turn, went up to the biker , and made sure that the biker got the petrol in his bike!!!!.....:)....... I then told myself - I'm really proud of you my girl!!!:)........

A really good video

What's in a name??

Whenever I meet anyone new, atleast 7 out of 10 would ask me, 'What does Praphulla mean actually?!!"......Its a different name, not found very often in South India ( I have no statistical information to prove this!.)....... Basically, my mom, when she was young, used to write lots of poems, and sing really well..( she does even now actually!!!)..... So, she named my elder sister as Pallavi ( related to Music) - beginning of the song....and my name as Praphulla (related to literature) - Blooming... However... I researched about my name on the Internet...and here is what I have found: Praphulla — enlivened, fully blossoming, pleasant, cheerful Praphullita — being jubilant True to my personality...Isnt it??...:) PS: This thought just struck me!!...You know...my sister sings really well...now when I think about it....I wonder....my mom had 2 passions.....one was music...another literature.... mom used to sing well, and my sis name is related to music, is that why my sister sings s...

Loving material things vs being Materialistic!!

Recently I had this argument with one of my colleague, who said that I tended to sound materialistic.!!..I was shocked...coz..anyone who knew me well enough would definitely deny that I was materialistic.....then I asked my colleague of what my colleague's definition of a 'materialistic' person was. My colleague then said that, I once mentioned that I dream to own a porsche one day...visit venice......etc.....I was excited when I bought a new phone...when I got my new laptop....n I get super excited about small things such as a good dish...a good movie etc etc.......all these, as per my colleague, made me materialistic...!!!..... Thank god!!..I thought!!....coz, then I knew that I just loved material things and was not 'materialistic' as the term is used widely.... Being materialistic in my opinion, is when one gives more value to the material/immaterial things than human relationships... show me one person who doesnt love material or immaterial 'things'.......

Valentine's Day!!

What does 14th Feb mean to you?..Is it any other day? or is it special?.....For me..it always has been special....not because I had a valentine I could share it with....but for quite the opposite reason that i didnt have a valentine...hehehe!!....But every year...from my engg....I've been receiving a mail from an anonymous person wishing me today... a secret admirer?..maybe..more!!...:)... I always wondered why we needed only 'one' day in an year to express our love for someone.....someone once told me that if you profess your love on a regular basis..the value of the feeling will be lost..and so they wait for a special occasion or a specific time to express their love.....Its strange isnt it?? When you love someone, we do not need to wait for a day or an occasion...every day...every moment will be special when your loved one is with you...you do not need to give a material gift to show how much you love them...just a small gesture that you think about your loved one ...eve...

Do I know you?

What is your definition/ interpretation when you say ' I know this person'? People say that , it is not necessary to spend a lot of time with the person to actually know the person...But then, whenever there is a misunderstanding or a disgareement, a common school of thought is that you havent known that person enough and so there are misunderstandings...Another school says that even though you live your life with a person, you still will not know how the actual person is ....and the widely heard ..'I need to know the person before I say 'yes'....thought!!.... Amidst, all of these...I ponder..will anyone ever be able to say ' Ok..you can know about 'x' person in 'y' amount of time'....? Can we set such 'just-enough' timeframe to know a person? But then?!!.....What do we mean when we say ' I know this person'. I am sure you would ask me, what my definition of 'knowing a person' is...:)......Hang on...I will hopefull...

New faces!!

I was reading one of my friend's blog today and suddenly like a lightning, it struck me, that the face of this friend I was imagining while reading the posts was slowly fading, and finally went blank and a completely new face of the person popped up in my mind. Who is this person?!! I wondered. We were in the same engineering class for 4 years. We might have discussed on hazaar things during those 4 years..I thought that I generally hadan idea about this person. If anyone asked me about the person, I knew I had an opinion!!.... But, only today, have I felt, that my interaction was very 'one-sided'..I only saw the 'generally accepted- public' side of the person.. and never actually 'knew' the person. It was mainly, I believe, because I did not have a close interaction with the person. This feeling of 'Who is this new face? ' happened even when I was reading the blog of one of my closest pals. It made me wonder...Have they changed to such an extent tha...
